Any animal that has fangs and uses them to attack its prey, regardless of whether the animal is wild (such as lions, wolves, leopards and panthers) or domestic (such as domestic dogs and cats), is unlawful to eat.
كُلُّ ذِي نَابٍ مِنْ السِّبَاعِ فَأَكْلُهُ حَرَامٌ
“Every wild animal that has fangs, eating it is haram.” (HR. Muslim no. 1933)
The legal origin of food and meat is halal, except for those exempted by religion with special arguments.
And this hadith explains some types of meat that are forbidden by religion to be eaten, namely all wild animals that have fangs and all birds that have sharp claws.
So all wild animals that have fangs are haram.
Fanged wild animals are wild animals that combine two characteristics, namely: prey using fangs and innately ferocious like lions, tigers and wolves.
If one of these characteristics is not fulfilled then the law is not haram.
Likewise, all birds that have sharp claws as a means of prey, such as eagles, eagles, falcons, and the like, are forbidden to eat.
